Do It For Her
Introduction
Do It for Her is a short drama that follows Bilal, a university student whose hidden gambling addiction begins to unravel his finances, relationships, and future. As the pressure of debt and secrecy grows, he reaches a crossroads where he must decide whether to continue down a destructive path or begin his journey towards recovery—for himself and for the people who love him, especially his mother.
About the Film
Do It for Her was produced by Million Youth Media and commissioned by YGAM and Gambling Harm UK as part of the Preventing Gambling Harms in Diverse Communities programme, an initiative designed to raise awareness of gambling-related harm among young people from ethnic minority communities. Written by Mohammedally Shushtari and directed by award-winning Shehroze Khan, Do It For Her was inspired by lived experience and informed by research, and seeks to encourage open conversations about gambling addiction, reduce stigma, and promote early support for those affected.
"She's worth fighting for. If you're not going to do it for me, and if you're not going to do it for yourself, do it for her."
